Honeymoon Part 1 - Koh Samui

Halo!!! We are back after missing in action from blogging due to our honeymoon trip. While we wait for our wedding photos and videos from various sources, we shall blog about our honeymoon trip first.

We booked our tickets to Koh Samui and Bangkok only 2 days before our wedding, imagine how occupied we were! And the tickets already cost $1K my gosh!

DAY 1
Transit at Bangkok Airport, had our first Thai food at the Airport "Thai Marche". Daniel had Phad Thai and I had their "Zhai Chai Fan".. Tasty but very ex!

Took Bangkok Airways to Koh Samui. By the way this is the only airline that travels to Koh Samui. Colourful & Fanciful Planes right? They call themselves the Boutique Airline. And look! We enter the plane by land.

Checked in to Villa Lawana.

These are some of the various types of villas available at the Villa Lawana.

This is our villa called the Private Plunge Pool Villa. This villa has got a bedroom, a washroom, a "open concept" shower area and toilet, an open-air pavillion and a private plunge pool with Jacuzzi.

Daniel loves the plunge pool so much that he plunges into it at least twice a day over our four-night stay.

Next, we went to explore other parts of Villa Lawana - their common pool, beach etc.

We were glad that there were many massage palours near our resort villa and had our first relaxing massage before we headed for dinner at a local thai seafood restaurant.

And when we returned back to the Villa, we were surprised by the little cookies that they had placed by our bedside for "supper". We thought this was a welcome gift but apparently these cookies were there every night when we returned.

More than this, they also left us a bottle of cold champagne and a heart-shaped cake on our first night knowing that this was our honeymoon trip. So thoughtful of them! I guess this is why they pride themselves with their slogan - "It's in the little things"!!!

See us enjoying our complimentary gifts while we relax in our private Jacuzzi plunge pool in the set-right atmosphere .. What a way to kick start our honeymoon!

Day 2
Basically Koh Samui is an island in Thailand that comes with many beaches. Our resort is situated along Chaweng Beach where you find most happening things becos it's the main town of the island. We wanted to explore more beaches, hence on Day 2 we rented a car for about THB1000/day (S$46) and explored the island.

It takes about 45min travelling abt 40km/h to cover half the coast line of the island. Chaweng Beach is basically very much like a tourist street with many shops that start operating at night and massage palours. As we explored further up, we found more beautiful beaches that has crystal blue seas that has no ship along the sky horizon during the day (unlike Singapore's), experiencing the daily lives of the locals, group activites such as paint-balls & live gun-shooting. We even sat on elephants!!!

Got some fruits and brought back to our private pool for an afternoon swim with longans & mangosteens!

Day 3
Day 3 was a totally relaxing day where we went to a special spa. Well there are many spas in Koh Samui but this spa that we chose was totally a unique experience cos it takes place right in the forest - Yes a forest spa!!! (We were not allowed to take pictures in the spa for privacy reason so we got some online pictures to illustrate our experience)
PhotobucketPhotobucket

This is a "Forest Dreaming" package where we have to first soak ourselves in a pool that contains herbs then go for a herb steam that takes place right in a cave. That's right...Cave!!! Coolest place to have a steam bath

Our next step was to go to a Jacuzzi pool that's surrounded by nature. As we sat in the pool, water was trickling down from the waterfall, cotton was falling from the cotton trees like snowflakes and colourful butterflies & dragonflies flying above us. This was the first time I saw Daniel at peace with insects cos these insects would never have survived if he had saw them in the house instead. Drinks and snacks were also served during this 2-hr period of "unwinding in the nature setting".
PhotobucketPhotobucket

Finally we had our 2.5hrs of "Twice as nice" Prakop massage right in an open-air hut among the high trees. Steaming Thai herbs, tightly wrapped in cloth, gently applied along the energy lines of the body in combination with Thai massage techniques relieve all our aches and re-energize our muscles. And when the trees whistle with the wind, and you get to see this paranomic view of the forest during the entire massage, you can't help but to feel that the money spent is worth it!!! And this spa was voted the top 100 spas in Asia.

Day 4
Day 4 we went to the common pool to suntan & explore the clear waters along the beach.

Bye Koh Samui. This is a place that we would love to come back again with our family & good friends...

We shall update our Honeymoon Part 2 at Bangkok soon....
