Don't ask me to cycle on the road again

In this weekend has been an exciting one for me. After dinner at my mum's place on Friday night, Ruxin and Derrick jio Daniel & I to go night cycling.

We met 9pm at East Coast MacDonalds and Ruxin suggested Derrick to bring us to City Hall. I was thinking in my heart "Daniel & I had conquered cycling the whole east coast from tenah merah to fort road back & forth before, it shouldn't be a problem cycling a little bit more." I seriously thought that Derrick has found a way somehow to go to CityHall through a park-cycling path and so I agreed readily.

Who knows actually Derrick wanted to bring us out of East Coast Park ONTO THE ROAD!!! It really freaked the hell out of me.. terrified at every carpark entrances/exits, traffic junctions, zebra crossings, canals and even construction sites that we cycled past. And not forgetting the many cyclists who cycled passed me in the opposite directions along tight passageway. I banged so many times, had some bruises along the way that I really wanted to give up. However Derrick & Ruxin were really patient with me. So we carried on - all the way from Fort Road to Mountbatten to Nicolle Highway to City Hall to Esplanade.

Us in front of the Suntec Convention Hall big TV screen...

Makan a bit at Makan Sutra. Then all the back from Esplanade to East Coast Park. The moment when I touched down at East Coast Park Fort Road, I felt like I just came back from a death experience.. ya.. so adventurous but also so dangerous & terrifying for a non-pro and non-zai cyclist like me. People like me better stick to the park.

I must say Derrick is so zai... he can do stunts & cycle with one hand & talking on the hp with another hand. That's the fruits of all the training he did in the past, cycling Ruxin back from Sengkang to Serangoon... hor Bicycle King??!!!

Soon it was past 1am & we were back to East Coast MacDonalds. Rested and then carried on cycling all the way to Tenah Merah & back to MacDonalds again. At least this part is more mentally-relaxing, cycling in the open breeze.

Thank God we made it back in time cos it started to storm heavily the moment we returned the bikes to the kiosk at 3am.

Wow.. after 5 hours of cycling, we were aching all over.

Never will I cycle on the road again!!!!
